Engineer a body that moves the way it’s meant to.
Biomechanics-led personal training with Ross Gibbins. Specialist 1-to-1 training engineered around the human movement blueprint (standing, walking, running, throwing) for individuals addressing chronic pain, postural issues, systemic imbalances, and recurring injuries. Based in the Rossendale hills and online worldwide — helping you improve your health and fitness through better, pain-free movement and unlock your true athletic potential. Built on the Functional Patterns method.
Who this is for.
Stuck In Chronic Pain
For anyone dealing with persistent back, sciatic, or joint pain who has tried passive therapies like physio, chiro, and massage without lasting relief. We stop chasing symptoms and instead address the root biomechanical imbalances causing your pain.
OUT OF POSTURE
For desk and remote workers feeling the structural tax of sitting. If daily habits have left you compressed with tight hips, rounded shoulders, or a forward head, we don't just stretch symptoms — we decompress your spine and restore structural integrity.
Health, Fitness & Longevity
For individuals looking to maximize health, dynamic fitness, and sustainable longevity. Learn to train with high intent — re-coding your mechanics to fundamentally improve how you stand, walk, run, and throw, building a resilient body that performs effortlessly and handles stress effectively.
Athletes & Returners From Injury
For runners, martial artists, lifters and sport athletes who keep getting the same injuries and want a body that produces force without compensating and improve their athletic potential.

TRAINING THAT RESPECTS HOW THE HUMAN BODY IS BUILT.
I’m Ross Gibbins, a Level 3 personal trainer and Functional Patterns certified trainer based in Rossendale and online worldwide . I help people fix chronic pain, poor posture, muscular imbalances, recurring injuries and improve health and fitness by addressing the root cause, not the symptoms. After years inside conventional gym culture which left me with chronic joint pain and muscular imbalances, I went deep into the FP method because it answered the question nobody else was asking: how is the body actually designed to move?
For over a decade I went round the mill — chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, every modality in between. The pain always came back, or a new injury showed up a few months later, because nothing was ever addressing the source of the problem. Functional Patterns was the first system that did. It taught me to read the body as a connected, biomechanical whole — and from there I got out of pain, started moving better, and built a body that’s genuinely becoming more athletic the older I get.
My coaching is built on biomechanics first. Every plan starts with an assessment — standing posture, gait , breathing mechanics — and works back to the strength, stability and patterning your body is missing.
Whether you want to improve your posture, move without pain, raise your athletic ceiling, or rebuild after injury, the process is the same: assess, correct, load, repeat.
Assess. Correct. Load. Repeat.
Every client moves through the same journey — After filling out the form below you will receive a free discovery call to discuss what pains, problems or issue you are facing . If we are both happy we will then lock in a deep-dive assessment to get under the bonnet to see what is going on with the body and create a program for you to move forward. Here's exactly what happens, in order, so you know what you're walking into.. .

Discovery Call
Every journey starts with a quick phone call. You tell me what's been going on — the pain, the history, what you're chasing — and we get a feel for each other before any training is booked.. If we're both happy, we lock in your first 90-minute Assessment.
- 01Phase One — 90 Min
Biomechanics Assessment
A 90-minute deep-dive session. We map your body the Functional Patterns way — standing posture, gait and breathing mechanics— so you can see exactly where you're leaking force, why pain keeps showing up in the same places, and how seemingly unrelated areas are pulling on each other. From there we move straight into the work: hands-on MFR to release the tightest tissue, and if your body's ready, the first layer of correctives. You leave with a clear picture of what's going on and a set of exercises to take home and start practising straight away on your journey to becoming pain free and moving better!.
- 02Phase Two — Ongoing
Corrective & Strength Phase
About a week after your assessment I'll check in to see how the body's feeling. The first session gives you quick wins — less pain, noticeably better movement — but real, lasting change is more like orthodontics: it takes time and consistent work. If you want to push further, this is where we go deeper into corrective biomechanics and, in time, loaded strength work — re-patterning how you stand, walk and rotate so good movement becomes your new default and the gains carry over into real life and sport. All subsequent sessions are 1 hour long.
The framework is the same for everyone. The depth and pace of each phase is calibrated to what your assessment reveals — and how your body responds week to week.
In their own words.
“I'd come back to boxing after years away and my shoulders felt locked solid — years at a desk had quietly wrecked them. Ross didn't just chase the tightness; he showed me why my shoulders were restricted at the source and how the rest of my body was feeding into the problem. Learning to integrate the bigger structures into my movement changed everything. My shoulders have less pain and i am less sore after training.”
“I've done yoga for years and assumed it was helping my back. Turns out the lordosis from my desk job was being made worse by the way I was practising. Ross took the time to explain what was actually happening in my body and taught me how to integrate myself as a whole rather than chase individual stretches. For the first time in a long time I'm living my life and doing the things I love without back pain dictating my day. ”
“My back used to go into acute spasms that twisted me into a temporary scoliosis. I genuinely thought I was too complicated to fix. Training with Ross over the last few months has been like peeling back the layers of an onion — slowly seeing where the tension is, removing the restrictions and putting positive tension back in the right places. I haven't had a spasm since, and every month I'm moving a little better than the last.”
